11 days Socotra


Hadibo - Rosh Beach - Arrarr - Homhill - Dihamri - Wadi Ayhaft - Qalansiah/Detwah Lagoon - Shaab - Dixam - Wadi Dirrharr - Amak Beach - Mushtal Adib - Hadibo

 

 

day 1: flight from Sanaá to Socotra. Arrival in Hadibo where you will be picked up and taken to Rosh Beach. Later we continue to Arrarr, a beautiful place on the beach ideally located for camping

 

day 2: from Arrarr we drive to the starting point of our trek to Homhill. We walk for 2-3 hrs passing through a natural garden full of dragonblood- and bottletrees. From the mountain´s top we have a breathtaking panorama over the ocean and a natural garden full of dragonblood- and bottletrees. Camping

 

day 3: Homhill–Di Hamri, (maritime nature reserve) on the coast of the Indian Ocean. There you find the most extended coral-reef. While snorkelling you discover a magnificient underwater world. Please do not touch anything because it causes irreversible damage. Time for scuba diving, if you wish. Camping

 

day 4: Di Hamri–Wadi Ayhaft, a national park which is one of most attractive & important for tourism. There are very big trees to be seen in the wadi within a beautiful landscape. There is a possibility to swim in the canyon of Ayhaft. Camping

 

day 5: Wadi Ayhaft – Qalansiah. Visit of Qalansyiah-town which is a charming and picturesque fishing village with its traditional houses and narrow alleyways. We then go to the protected area of Detwah lagoon,a nature reserve known by its unbelievable beauty. Here you can see stingrays which means to take good care when swimming. The lagoon is as well home to various species of maritime birds. Camping

 

day 6: early in the morning we take to boat to the little island of Sha´ab. There we have a beautiful beach almost to ourselves.You can swim, bathe, take a walk or simply relax. During our return to Qalansiah 3 or 4 hrs later, we might see dolphins (if we are lucky). Camping Detwah Lagoon

 

day 7: Qalansiah – nature reserve of Dixam. Here you see an immense number of dragonblood trees which leave you astonished by their beauty.Camping

 

day 8: Dixam – Dirrharr. In Wadi Dirrharr you can take a bath in a natural hammam with clear and refreshing water. Camping

 

day 9: Dirrharr – Amak Beach. Amak is a beautiful beach situated on the Indian Ocean with many sand dunes and palm trees behind. Camping

 

day 10: Amak Beach – Mushtal Adib. This is a unique place. The very friendly and kind owner has a wonderful garden where he cultivates all endemic plants of Socotra. We then continue to the hotel in Hadibo

 

day 11: transfer to the airport. Departure.
